My First Outing Alone with Kyle

Monday, Kyle had to get his PKU test and Jay had to work. So, Kyle and I went to the hospital by ourselves. I was nervous about the trip, but Kyle did great! He did of course cry when they pricked his heel, but he fell asleep on the way to the car. I was feeling pretty good so we even stopped at the grocery store on our way home. Overall, Kyle and I had a fantastic first outing!

Kyle's Two Week Birthday

Today Kyle is two weeks old and is doing great! He has been staying awake longer each day but mostly just in the late mornings and early in the afternoon. We go to his first well baby visit tomorrow.
Jay and I are extremely tired. Jay has been very sweet and taken two of the night feedings for me. I'll ask Jay to post some more pictures soon.

Uncle Jim and Aunt Juli with Kyle

Kyle is Home

We finally made it home. Everything went well at the hospital. Cristy and the baby are doing great and are both sleeping while I make this post. Thanks to everyone for the phone calls, emails, cards and flowers.
So as I promised here are some more pictures. These are of course the proud grandparents and a picture of Cristy holding Kyle as we were waiting to leave the hospital.

Welcome Kyle William Johnson

Cristy gave birth to Kyle William today at 12:05pm. He is 7 lb 3/4 oz, and 19 3/4 inches long. He also has red hair which was a surprise. He and Cristy are exhausted but healthy and doing well. I was in the room with Cristy for the delivery and she came through great!

Cristy might give you a blow-by-blow blog entry at some point (maybe) but let me just say the process went much faster than we expected. We were lucky Dr. Robert showed up when she did because Kyle wasn't going to wait any longer.

More pictures to follow.

Counting Down the Days

Jay and I are “patiently” awaiting the arrival of our little boy. We are getting very anxious as it is less than a week away. I have worked from home this week, mostly due to the fact I can’t sleep and I feel like a ticking time bomb, ready to go off at any point and I don’t want this to happen at work(They don’t either.) We have all the baby stuff that we know we will need and the house is almost ready. I feel like I must clean everything before it is ready. I have been cleaning in small stages, because I have been advised to “take it easy” and “don’t over do it.”

2 Weeks To Go

With Feb 18th fast approaching, I bet many of you are wondering how close Jay and I are to being ready to welcome our little bundle of joy into the world. As far as we know we have everything we need for the baby (diapers, wipes, clothes, a place to sleep, toys, a carseat). Jay has volunteered to go get anything we find we are missing as needed. (Hopefully, I won't have to send him out too many times.) We are both anxious and ready to meet the little guy (me a little more so).

Birth date update

We have a real date set for the birth, Feb 18. So we have to be at the hospital at 5AM and the doctor will be inducing. I'm really hoping that they'll have the machine that goes "PING!" in the room (any Monty Python fans out there?) It's only 2 days early from the actual due date so we're pretty relieved. The countdown can really start now ... and begin ...

A Belated Hello

Sorry that I haven't done a gag since Thanksgiving, the comic strips sadly have been put on hold. Cristy and I have been meaning to update this thing for a while but we've been sort of distracted.

For those of you who don't know Cristy was diagnosed with gestational diabetes which made the holidays pretty tough for her. She met with a great dietician and we have been following a very strict diet. She has to count her carbs and test her glucose levels 4 times a day. What a trooper! The baby will be here some time around Feb 16. Hopefully the doctors won't have to induce, but they've prepared us for it should it need to happen.

So thats about it. We'll try to get back on a schedule to update the blog soon.
