DomestiCity 013

Here's Cristy, Nemo and I in full Halloween spirit. Hope all you gouls and ghosts have a good time!

**EDIT**
So I forgot to add my scruffy facial hair and Cristy's elegant glasses in the drawing...... Let's just agree that I shaved and Cristy is wearing contacts this week. Yeah thats what we'll go with.

Domesticity 012

Here's this week's comic post. Cristy says that she's getting kicked harder and harder every week by the baby. So far I haven't felt a thing. How hard will she have to get kicked for me to feel it? I fear for her.

22 weeks

Jay has been really busy this week, so I had him take a picture of my “ever expanding” belly to replace the comic strip. There should be a new strip up next Wednesday.

The baby has been kicking for the past few weeks. I’ve made Jay put his hand on my belly to feel it, but so far he can’t. I did a little research and he should be able to feel the kicks in about 2 weeks. I’m excited about getting to share that with him.

I have not been sleeping well recently. Either the baby gives me a hard kick and wakes me or I need to use the bathroom. Between those two things I’m up every few hours. I guess that’s to ease me into the sleepless nights to come but I don’t think it’s the same. I can easily fall back asleep when there is no screaming baby.

Jay is unaware, but I have plans for him this weekend. We are going to finish organizing his studio, and then we will tackle the nursery!

DomestiCity 011

It's been a busy week, so the strip is posting a bit later in the day.

We had the 20 week checkup yesterday, and Cristy is healthy and doing great. The Doctor was real positive but said that Cristy needed to eat more protein during the course of her days. So digging back to my college years, I recalled that peanut butter was a great protein delivering snack but there is one problem. Cristy has a mild peanut allergy, so she's avoiding all peanut products in the hopes that the baby won't have it too. OK, what's the alternative? You guessed right, Soy-nut butter!

It has the same protein count as peanut-butter so I talked Cristy into buying a jar. And of course it tastes just plain awful. The flavor begins bitter with the aftertaste of roasted pinto beans. If this is the alternative, I sure hope our kid doesn't have a peanut allergy. Maybe Nemo will like it. We'll see tomorrow.

DomestiCity 010

Jay is letting me post this week's comic strip. No, I didn't draw it, but I helped a little with the idea. For a change, this week no belly jokes, but as my belly keeps expanding you shouldn't have to wait for long.

Dr Visit

On our last doctor visit we found out we are having a little boy. Jay and I couldn't be more excited! Our baby is 7 inches long and estimated to be 7 ounces. From what I've read in the "expecting" books, this is two inches longer than average. Maybe our son will be tall! We'll see. Our baby is healthy and likes to suck his thumb already!

It has been a busy weekend. I was able to spend both days with Mom and Laura. Jay and I got to see two of our nieces today, Hannah (Jim and Juli's) and Allyssa (David and Laura's). Allyssa pointed out Hannah's ears and lack of teeth. It was a lot of fun to see them play together!

DomestiCity 008

Yesterday we found out if the baby was a boy or a girl.  The strip reveals the answer.
We're both really excited!

DomestiCity 007

Here's the Wednesday strip a little early again this week. I think Cristy came out kind of nice in this one.  She really was a super-trooper during that 1st trimester.  She has just begun feeling fully energized again this week.
I'm really looking forward to next Tuesday, I get to find out what color fumes I'll be breathing while painting the nursery.  Seriously we're really excited and will post the news as soon as we know.

16 week Dr Apt

Today Jay and I went to our 16 week doctor's appointment. The nurse had a very difficult time finding the baby's heartbeat. This was very nerve wracking until she finally found the little one. She said the baby kept hiding from her and might be a bit stubborn. We might be in for it.

Our next appointment is next Tuesday. We get to find out if we will keep the tradition and have a girl or buck the trend with a boy. We are very anxious to know especially now that it is only a week away!
