We have a real date set for the birth, Feb 18. So we have to be at the hospital at 5AM and the doctor will be inducing. I'm really hoping that they'll have the machine that goes "PING!" in the room (any Monty Python fans out there?) It's only 2 days early from the actual due date so we're pretty relieved. The countdown can really start now ... and begin ...

A Belated Hello
Sorry that I haven't done a gag since Thanksgiving, the comic strips sadly have been put on hold. Cristy and I have been meaning to update this thing for a while but we've been sort of distracted.
For those of you who don't know Cristy was diagnosed with gestational diabetes which made the holidays pretty tough for her. She met with a great dietician and we have been following a very strict diet. She has to count her carbs and test her glucose levels 4 times a day. What a trooper! The baby will be here some time around Feb 16. Hopefully the doctors won't have to induce, but they've prepared us for it should it need to happen.
So thats about it. We'll try to get back on a schedule to update the blog soon.

22 weeks
The baby has been kicking for the past few weeks. I’ve made Jay put his hand on my belly to feel it, but so far he can’t. I did a little research and he should be able to feel the kicks in about 2 weeks. I’m excited about getting to share that with him.
I have not been sleeping well recently. Either the baby gives me a hard kick and wakes me or I need to use the bathroom. Between those two things I’m up every few hours. I guess that’s to ease me into the sleepless nights to come but I don’t think it’s the same. I can easily fall back asleep when there is no screaming baby.
Jay is unaware, but I have plans for him this weekend. We are going to finish organizing his studio, and then we will tackle the nursery!

DomestiCity 011
It's been a busy week, so the strip is posting a bit later in the day.We had the 20 week checkup yesterday, and Cristy is healthy and doing great. The Doctor was real positive but said that Cristy needed to eat more protein during the course of her days. So digging back to my college years, I recalled that peanut butter was a great protein delivering snack but there is one problem. Cristy has a mild peanut allergy, so she's avoiding all peanut products in the hopes that the baby won't have it too. OK, what's the alternative? You guessed right, Soy-nut butter!
It has the same protein count as peanut-butter so I talked Cristy into buying a jar. And of course it tastes just plain awful. The flavor begins bitter with the aftertaste of roasted pinto beans. If this is the alternative, I sure hope our kid doesn't have a peanut allergy. Maybe Nemo will like it. We'll see tomorrow.
